Albert Tucker, (Joy Hester, Little Collins Street, Melbourne) 1942, gelatin silver contact print, Albert Tucker Photographic Collection, State Library Victoria and Heide Museum of Modern Art, Gift of Barbara Tucker 2008
Albert Tucker: Spirit Worlds and Dreamscapes is the first exhibition to explore the artist’s lifelong fascination with spiritual and esoteric ideas. Tucker spent many decades of his life absorbing and integrating his belief in the invisible forces in the world into his creative practice. The exhibition re-interprets some well-known examples of his art in a new light, giving a deeper understanding of his extraordinary output. It features key works and photographs from the Heide Museum of Modern Art collection and previously unseen pieces from the Albert and Barbara Tucker Foundation, as well as important loans from public and private collections.
