Heide was founded over 40 years ago on the vision and generosity of philanthropists John and Sunday Reed. Our exhibitions, programs and beautiful gardens continue to thrive today because of the support of our donor community.
Your gift today will help us to create a vibrant future program of exhibitions and events, support artists and creative industries workers and retain our talented staff.
Heide is a not-for-profit organisation, relying on private donations for at least a third of its annual operating revenue. Every donation of any amount makes a difference, and all gifts of $2 and over are tax deductible.

All donors will receive a thank you email and tax receipt, and be recognised as part of the wider Heide donor community. Donations, gifts or bequests of $1,500 or more are gratefully acknowledged on the honour board in the foyer of the Heide main galleries, in the museum’s annual report and on our website, for at least 12 months, or for longer periods for larger gifts.

How will my donation be acknowledged?

Yes, donations of $2 and over are tax deductible. Purchases of memberships, event tickets, sponsorships or any other payment where you receive a direct benefit of value are not tax deductible.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Your gift is vital to Heide’s ability to produce world class exhibitions, vibrant programs and events that are accessible to all, and to maintain and develop our sculpture park and gardens. Where possible, we encourage donors to give broadly to ‘art at Heide’. This enables the flexibility to direct resources to the area of greatest need, whether this be a future exhibition, an education program for children and young people or the acquisition or conservation of a work of art. However we understand that donors may prefer to specify a particular exhibition or priority project for which their gift is to be used, and we actively seek major donations for each of our exhibitions and larger projects. The museum also runs two fundraising appeals in June and December for specific projects. We would be delighted to discuss the options with you for funding a particular area of Heide’s work.

Since its inception as a public museum and sculpture park, Heide’s continued success and development have depended on the private support of individual, corporate and philanthropic supporters. There are many ways to give to Heide, and all are valued by the museum’s staff and Board. Whether you make a personal donation or a gift in your Will, donate an artwork, volunteer your time or provide products or services that Heide would otherwise need to purchase, you are contributing to the life of the museum and its ongoing sustainability.
Our community of supporters is—like Heide itself —welcoming, committed to art, design and landscape, and very much loved.

The Heide Collection was founded on donated works of art, and continues to expand and develop thanks to donors who choose to gift artworks to the museum. Heide’s curatorial team is responsible for strategically developing the collection in accordance with the Collections Policy, and makes recommendations to the Board about works that have been offered as gifts. It is also possible to donate works of art through the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program, which provides taxation benefits to donors.Please note that we are unable to authenticate or value works of art but suggest that you contact a commercial valuer or auction house. In kind donations of products or professional services are highly valued by Heide. We have a number of <a href="https://www.heide.com.au/partnerships/">partnerships</a> in place which provide goods and services that assist in the delivery of our programs and reduce the cost to the museum of purchasing some of those items. Heide simply could not operate without its incredible volunteer workforce. In addition to our small team of paid employees (28 effective full time), we have over 250 committed, knowledgeable and skilled volunteers who assist with guided tours, learning programs, exhibition invigilation, gardening, fundraising and other tasks to ensure the museum provides the best possible experience for visitors.
